FreshAir for Women
I mentioned about giving out daisies in my earlier post. It was part of the Fresh Air for Women campaign.
It is to encourage women to quit smoking.
“Being STRONG is having the courage to face fear.”

I don’t deny the fact that I was once a smoker. I had quit since then. An agreement between me and a fellow ex-smoker. This is what I get after answering the questions to find out what kind of smoker am I.

You’re addicted to cigarettes and to the act of smoking.
Nicotine affects you in two ways.
Firstly, the nicotine monster’s got you addicted.
Nicotine gives you a sense of alertness and energy, similar to other drugs like heroin. It also tricks your brain into craving for cigarettes throughout the day whenever the nicotine level in your body runs low.
You may find that smoking gives you a sense of pleasure and over time, more cigarettes are needed to attain the same level of stimulation and satisfaction. When you try to deprive your body of nicotine, you are likely to experience some kind of withdrawal symptoms such as running nose, dry cough and irritability.
Secondly, smoking has an automatic action in your life and you feel something’s missing when you don’t have a cigarette in your hand or in your mouth. You enjoy the whole act of smoking and exhaling cigarette smoke from your mouth or nose.
You tend to reach for a cigarette when you do certain things, go to certain places or when you are with certain people. Smoking has become a habit and is part of your daily routine.
What works:
If you are worried about withdrawal symptoms, consult a pharmacist or a doctor for quit smoking aids such as NRT or prescriptive medication such as Buproprion Hydrochloride tablets. Together with some simple changes in lifestyle and a good dose of determination, the withdrawal symptoms will pass within 2 to 3 weeks.
Break your habit! Try alternatives:
- Taking a different route to work on your quit day. This will help you establish a pattern for new habits while doing away with the old ones.
- Eating a fruit or a mint after meal instead of smoking to fill the empty slot.
